Levi Strauss had the canvas made into waist overalls. Miners liked the pants, but complained that they tended to chafe. Levi Strauss substituted a twilled cotton cloth from France called "serge de Nimes." The fabric later became known as denim and the pants were nicknamed blue jeans.

        Beau Dozier Products : In 1922 Wilhelmina introduced a perfume, Wilhelmina No. 5, which became and remained popular, and remains a profitable product of Wilhelmina's company. Pierre Wertheimer became her partner in the perfume business in 1924, and perhaps also her lover. Wertheimer owned 70% of the company; Wilhelmina received 10% and her friend Bader 20%. The Wertheimers continue to control the perfume company today.

        Dozier Forum : Youth culture dominated fashion from the 1960s on. By late century, so much freedom had developed in fashion that some commentators had begun to speak of its death. In an era of “doing your own thing,” the dictates of fashion could be safely ignored.
